need some ticket advice!

So i was speeding a lil proly about 70-75 in a 55 zone which is the speed of flow of traffic at times. So i get pulled over and he says you were probably doing close to 80, but I know that he did not clock me, but he estimated I was speeding because I was passing other cars. He tells me I was weaving through traffic at high speeds and not signaling, and writes me a ticket for reckless driving. I only made two lane changes, and I did signal, and I really dont think what I did constitutes reckless driving. Maybe speeding at worst, but he didnt clock me , and I know he was pretty far back because he said I had to do a 100 to catch up with u, and he came outta nowhere. So i got a few questions :

1.) I plan to get a lawyer and fight this, what are my chances ? Is it worth it?

2.) If my g is insured under my mom's name, will the insurance company still find out about this ticket if I get convicted?

3.) I got a ticket about 6 months ago in Illinois, would this affect my driving record in Indiana where I have never recieved a ticket until now.?

1.) Yes get a lawyer, I got a reckless in VA, read the story below. Not sure about IL but in VA you can get 12 mos in jail! Unlikely but it can happen, and the reckless charge will be on your license for 7 years! I was lucky I got off completely but the best you should probably hope for is a reduction to speeding or with your circumstance maybe improper driving with a fine and driving school.

2.)I am pretty certain the answer is yes and if you get the reckless conviction expect some rate hikes.

3.) Not sure about this but I think the DMVs are all linked up now.

GOOD LUCK!

My story, the lawyer was worth every penny, 75 in a 45, before you read this, know that I have slowed down big time and it was around 430AM, no one on the road, right where the road changed to 55, and it was at the beginning of my 2 hour commute.

SO I get to court like an hour early and I am sweating my *** off nervous as ****. I bummed a cigarette off someone who looked like he had just been released on bail. The traffic court started at 930 and the lawyer said he would be there around 915. Well 915 went by and I started to **** in my pants. I watched several people go up and then the sheriff that pulled me over went to the stand and I figured I was screwed and I was going to kill the lawyer. The judge said they would take a recess until 1030, I heard him say cuz my lawyer wasn't there yet. after 1030 they started hearing hardcore criminal cases people in shackles and ****. Then my lawyer Finally showed a little after 1100. We talked and he looked at the great letter from my new boss. We discussed our strategy a little and went into the courtroom. The lawyer told him my situation and how this could effect me and my job, asked the officer if I was cooperative, which I was I pretty much kissed his *** and he let the court know that, then the judge sat there for literally 5 minutes rubbing his for head and ****. He looked at me and said this is your lucky day I am going to drop it to 19 over and driving school, as the lawyer asked, but know that any future tickets and the judge will see this and hit you hard. Plus I am giving you a $200 fine. I was like thank you sir. The judge grabbed a calculator to figure 19 over, keep in mind traffic cases had been gone for over an hour. He messed up the calculation and my lawyer said 59 so he put down 59 in a 45 which is 14 over. We walked out very happy. Went to the clerk and the lawyer started bull****ting with her. Told her what I got and she started filling out forms. She asked if it was going to be dismissed after the school and the lawyer was like I think so. She looked on the computer and said since the judge hadn't filled out this other paper it would be dismissed. Lawyer said it was because during traffic court there is a lady there doing that for him and since traffic court was over she was gone so the judge sent it as is. The lawyer said he was hoping for this but it was very unlikely and it was like I just won the lottery. Traffic school and about $1000 and my record is spot less.

I currently live in Fredericksburg, work in Charlotesville and I'm getting ready to move out there. Got my ticket on route 3 west outside of Fredericksburg. I have lived in Virginia on and off my whole life, I was born in Hampton and have also lived in Springfield.
