BESTTT way to launch at the track?

Second time at track (englishtown), this time i used my manual mode ( i have 5at, 2004 coupe) with just an injen intake and greddy sp2 exhaust for mods. I ran a 14.646 at 96.49 mph. Just wondering what is the best way to launch, b/c i tried power braking ?? i think its called when u hold brake down and rev it up a lil...i didnt do it too well and ran a 14.8ish ...Whats the best way to launch the car? just smash down gas? i was hoping low 14s lol help !! thanks

I guess you dun want to brake with WOT lol..
torque brake to around 1.5k ~2.5k rpm and then launch
that's what most ppl do.. or simply dun do torque braking
since someone here has reported that the ecu is designed to
pull power when brake and throttle is applied at the same time

Did you try just smashing the gas on auto? If so, how did that go?

if you brake torque at WOT... your RPMs will not go higher than 2500

You do not want to hold the gas down while on the brake for an extended period because it will build a ton of heat in the torque converter. Nissan recommends no more than 5 seconds. When I race at the strip, I stage, hold my foot on the brake, and once the first set of ambers comes on, I go WOT, and release the brake right after the 2nd set of ambers goes out. That means I'm holding the gas and brake for about 1 second or so. This technique usually results in .5-.6 second reaction times and 2.1 60 foots. I usually see about 2200rpms. Launching without any torque braking results in 2.3 60 foots and a very boggy launch. This car NEEDS a little torque braking to launch. The engine just doesn't have the low rpm torque to push a 3,400lb car off the line hard.

dont forget to turn your vdc off. did you see better times in auto or manual mode? the computer can shift the fastest but maybe redlining helped more?

you should just practice peeling out first...

and then practice launching

I always turn off the VDC, but my car hardly chirps a tire on a track surface. I let the car shift itself on the 1-2 shift, but manually shift the 2-3 and hold 3rd through the finish.
