i have my 60k service coming up soon....i went to my local instant oil change place and was getting my oil changed. I brought up the 60k service and the guy looked up everything that my car needed from the dealership list. If i would take it to the dealership it would be from 600-700 dlls, and if i did it at the instant place it would only cost around $323.00, He was really nice about giving me discounts and everything. I own an 03 coupe 6mt. i'll see if i can get the list later and post wut you need to check plus prices.

The 60k is your major service, you do not want to skip that!

It includes all fluids, filters, spark plugs(usually cost extra), if you need it, valve adjustments, and probably some other things I can't remember right now

Patrick, if you need a hookup on 60k, give me a call.

Hi Danny!
I didn't know that the spark plugs need to be changed at 60k?!

dont do the 60k service unless it includes fluid flushes. ask them exactly what is done for the 60k service. every service department is different.

if i were you, i would choose certain services. if you cant do it yourself, i would suggest getting all the fluids flushed or drained and refilled (brake, transmission, rear diff, coolant, and power steering if you really want). get your standard oil change if you dont do that yourself. and finally ask them to inspect brakes, hoses, etc.

it'll cost a lot, but probably no more than a 60k service would cost. and i bet anything, the 60k service doesn't do all the fluid exchanges. its mostly inspections.

oil change, spark plugs, throttle body clean up can be done by yourself if you really want to do it, all the fluid services can be done at another shop were they will not charge you as much as infiniti

Service Manual Schedule of Periodic Maintance.

Note: this is schedule 2, normal driving. Hard wear and tear on the vehicle, uses schedule 1. The distance between services is effectively half of schedule 2, so this would be the 30k service.
Replace:
  • Air Cleaner Filter
  • In cabin micro filter
  • Engine coolant (after 60k, every 30k)
  • Engine Oil & filter

Inspect:
  • Drive belts (after 60k, every 15k)
  • EVAP vapor lines
  • Fuel Lines
  • Brake lines & cables
  • Brake pads & rotors
  • MT gear oil, ATF fluid, & differential gear oil (DEMANDS Nissan Type "J" for ATF, otherwise warranty voided)
  • Steering gear & linkage
  • Axle & suspension parts
  • Exaust system

Non-service items:
  • Fuel filter

Service when necessary:
  • Intake & exaust valves

After 60k, everything will have been serviced, except the spark plugs. They are repaced at 105k

So, the moral of the story:

If they are going to be checking:
Accelerator pedal
Hood cable release
Seatbelt mounts
Starting / charging system
Air conditioner
Grease door hindges
Your buthole...

They are just looking for problems to charge you to fix. You're out of warranty coverage at that point, its their turn to make back the money they lost when you brought your car in for a few free services of the the past few years..... Screw them. Dont request a paticular package. Do what you can at home, then give them a list of what to do. If they want to do a free inspection of your seatbelts, or this or that, go ahead. Then you'll know what you need to work on once you get home...

Yes, but I would recommend pulling them every 30K miles or so and inspect them for odd wear. Also, it's always a good idea to remove the spark plugs from aluminum heads on a routine basis (once a year) to limit the possibility of the plug getting seized and cross threading out. 100K mile plugs are great, but they do need to get pulled out routinely.

Dealer Servicing is a lot of B.S., I see a lot of their major services are just inspection more than actual part replacement. Save some money and just find out what needs to be flushed or changed and bring it into a small shop or just DIY. All the servicing is very minor

I was quoted at 450 today in GA for a 30k service. I am going to ask them to check everything when they fix my dash on Tuesday and do the replacement stuff myself.
