Running summer tires in the southeast during winter?

No, just going by experience. If there is any moisture on the ground (be it misting, condensation, etc), and it's around 40 degrees, you'll have close to zero traction. In these conditions I have:

1.) fishtailed making a simple right turn
2.) fishtailed accelerating normally from a green light
3.) fishtailed when the auto tranny shifted, while briskly accelerating up the hill by my house
4.) Almost blew a stop sign when attempting to stop normally at a stop sign near my house. (Speed limit is 45mph on this street). ABS engaged, and came to a stop with my back wheels on the crosswalk.

I believe you can drive ok with these tires in these conditions if you are super careful, but I have zero confidence you'll avoid an accident in an emergency situation with these tires in these conditions based on my experiences.

Most reviews/tests I've read, (even tire-racks tests), showed that dry and wet (especially wet) traction fall off a cliff with cold temps on summer tires.
