I've done that once (on my '03 Coupe) by accident.
I was sweating bullets by the time I filled up. (my car too 75 liters (just shy of 20 US gallons).

Not sure if that question was addressed to me or not.. but my 446 miles out of 17.2 gallons was most likely a mix of highway and backroads. I honestly don't remember exactly what I did that tank of gas, but I rarely ever drive solid highway just because of the nature of my commute and I didn't go on any really long road trips or anything during that tank.

I seem to get abut the same fuel economy on backroads as I do on the highway most of the time unless I'm stomping on the gas real hard while doing the backroads. My highway economy according to the NAV at like 70 MPH is usually around 22/23 MPG, but if I'm on a nice backroad and cruise at like 45/50 MPH, the NAV says it gets around 29/30 MPG(which gets somewhat lowered by the fact that you have to stop a decent amount every once in a while due to stop signs, traffic, and random avoidance maneuvers to dodge those damn Possums which seem to always jump out in front of my car for some reason).

After replenishing the G35's tank, we rummaged through the glove compartment to find the owner's manual with the intention of determining the car's fuel capacity. Surely, we had been party to a miracle that allowed us to reach a gas station on fumes alone. The manual indicated that the gas tank capacity was 20 gallons. Something didn't seem right about that amount. We had just put 18.52 gallons into the tank and had never exceeded the 18-gallon fill-up mark before. Evidently, Infiniti foresaw the possibility that enthusiastic owners like us would be too overcome by the driving experience to refuel the G35 promptly and decided to build in a wide margin for error.
