TPS Problem

My check engine light came on this last weekend. I had my cousin, who's a mechanic, check it out. Seems to be a TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) problem. I already have any appointment with the dealer, but just wondering if this has happened to anyone.

According to my cousin, it's just an emissions thing. Which will cause you to get poor gas mileage.

Drive by wire. There such an issue that Nissan is working on RECALL details. Already has a "rebuilt" part on dealers shelf. Yes confirmed, recall comming soon.

Because the car has a drive by wire system installed in it there are added checks on the electronics that control the throttle. In our car, this added check is from two different sensors in the gas pedal. One reads from 0-5vdc and the other reads from 5-0vdc as you push the pedal down. If at any time these voltages don't match then you'll throw a TPS code.

I just had my TPS sensor replaced under warranty.

It was causing my RPM to dip too low when I start the car. The RPM will shoot up to 1500 at start and then immediately drop to 200 to 300 RPM and sometimes stall. The TPS sensor replacement should address this.

Mine was changed for free under warranty. They actually replace the entire throttlebody. The sensor itself is inside the throttlebody. The dealer should know about this issue.
