what actually matters is your cruising rpm.

the most efficient gas consumption is between 1700 to 2000 rpm.

if you go 2000 rpm at 6 gear I believe would get around 26-28 mpg

When I had my Navi on my 03. I was able to log in 25 mpg avg in city by keeping the rev around 2k.

To me 45kph is too slow for 6th gear. That's only about 28mph and could cause damage to your engine.
You'd also have no ability to accellerate.

Damn canadians. j/k It's 45mph, not kph. 42mph is the recommended speed to shift into 6'th for optimum gas mileage so 45 is fine.

yeh just downshift if you want to accelerate. Its saves more gas that by downshifting because you reach desired speed faster.

If you drive too slow for the speed, your engine can chug.

not enough power to push the car because of the gear.

imagine on a bicycle with a higher gear going really slow and try to paddle it. Its tough right?

same way. Your engine will stall if your rpm is not high enough when you let go of the clutch from a stop.

Basically don't stress your engine and tranny. Operating it between 1500 and redline is fine. Shift when you should.

The lower the RPM, the less work the engine is doing, therefore i assume the lower the RPM would yield better milage.
