Why bother with 93 in the NA G35??? I use 91 and it is fine. Now on my 300ZXTT I use 92/93 exclusively.

 

I use Chevron 91 proof.........that's all we get here in
S. Ca. with our dirty air. Not like the "old" days when I used Chevron custom supreme at 98 octane!

 

In that case, I am going to go for for Premium from now on. Thanks for the input guys!

 

+1, U are gonna save like 2 dollars everytime u fill up anyway. I think it is cheap to think that "Ohh im gonna save two dollars every week or whenever i fill up the car". Big fukin deal !

76 premium is the only thing that goes in my car.

 

Yeah don't skimp on gas, if you have to get a Civic or something as you cannot afford a G.

 

87-89 doesn't have the same ingredients as premium, or at least that's what the oil companies want you to believe. Me? I use 93 octane because I want all of those raging 280 horses on tap when I need 'em.

 

In addition to the higher octane, premium also contains detergents and cleaning additives that help your car burn the fuel better and keep your lines and tank cleaner. No company puts these additives in regular. My mother works at Port Everglades here in Ft Laud. She works in the accounting dept and pays the bills. She says all gas comes from the same place. Tankers bring it in and load it in big storage tanks at the port. Companies buy the gas, load it in their trucks where they take it to their own refineries to add the the ingrediants they choose. Regular is pretty much regular for every company. Different companies put in different additives to the premium but all have some type of detergent. The extra money you pay for premium is better for your car. That's the bottom line.

 

Yes, many companies use the same stock fuel, and add their own additive package. They may vary some, but ALL octane grades contain detergents.

Remember the ads to drive people to buy premium because of the additives? You don't see them anymore. Because ALL octane grades have detergents.
Look how many cars are designed to run on regular! Don't you think after all these years these cars would be off the side of the road broken down with clogged fuel systems?

All that aside, you should only be running premium in the G.
It is designed and tuned for it to get the optimum efficiency.
Why do so many people believe everything else in the owner's manual and NOT believe that?

 

Do you guys in the states get Chevron 94 octane? That's what I use up here but haven't seen it on my excursions down south...

 

I fill 1/2 the tank with 101 octane and half the tank with 91 octane which averages out to running with 96 octane daily...

 

wish we had those kind of choices in CA.

 

does anyone know where to get higher than 91 oct in san diego...been trying to search for higher...but usually go to shell once or twice a month fill up 91 oct and then go to military base gas for 91 also...balance it out i guess bad gas and good gas haha

 

I guess you could add Octane booster.. but I wonder if it is really worth it, or totally safe. Just don't know, never used it.

You can find premium that is 'bad' gas and regular that is 'good' of course.
I would use stations that have a high turnover. That's generally safest.
Costco has a good turnover, and claim they use 76, Shell, or Phillips depending on location.

91 (highest grade available in most gas stations here) from 76, 92 when I get the chance... and if I must use another gas station, I'll use Shell or Valero.
