What gas does everyone fill in their G35? I've been filling regular unleaded but I think this car might require a bit better so I dunno if I'm doing the right thing hurting it with crappy gas, do you guys use special or premium or is it not necessary on the G?

As long as your car doesn't ping, and still has good gas mileage (for a G35), 87 octane doesn't hurt anything. (in my case, the owners manual says it is OK. The coupes require 91, and possibly newer sedans).
Possibly if you drive it hard, it might make a difference. I put in premium occasionally, when the price difference is lower than the normal $0.20/gal.

premium... don't use regular unless you like losing hp etc...
you paid for the G, not pay for its premium!

The counter argument is, if in your car with how you drive, if the gas doesn't seem to make a difference, why buy the more expensive gas.
The argument that, if you can afford the car you should buy the more expensive gas would have led me, on my recent vacation, to choose the $2.999 gas rather than the station a block away selling $2.399 gas (both 87 octane)

It just seems so out of place, with all the car choices out there, to choose a performance/luxury car and then use regular gas. If the price difference makes a difference, it just seems it's not the best car for you. I would hae to buy a used G where the previous owner used regular gas. I saw an article by a so-called expert that seemed on target to me. It said it's okay to use regular if:
You do a lot of highway driving and drive easy and relaxed while on the freeway.
Your hear/feel no knocking or pinging.
You want a little more mpg.
Don't mind less power.
Should beware that there could be more carbon build up in the engine if the car is tuned for higher octance and the lower decreases spark.
The article specifically said city traffic, hard driving should use premium.
I have always used premium in every car I've owned even if regular was okay. I'm too old to change now.

The only vehicle I have that it matters is my pickup. At times of the year, if I don't put 89 or better in it, it's power is affected. I don't see this on my car, though I probably keep an average of closer to 88 in.
