Thanks, BM, there is recall info in our TSB forum. I'll transfer a copy to it so this doesn't get lost.

Colin.

Wow, what does this mean for all the guys retrofitting 06 headlamps into their 03-05s? Will this improper equipment cause people to fail their state inspections if they've retrofitted?

Yah think? But hey if they function who cares, my main concern would be whether you could get a ticket for it...

How could you get a ticket for it? It's not blinding oncoming traffic and there are way brighter lights out there compared to the '06 projectors.

Time to camp out at local Infiniti dealerships trash bin to look for 06 projectors. Looks like I won't have to shell out $760 for them afterall.

i think he is referring to the fact that aftermarket HIDs are illegal. but how would a cop know its aftermarket? i can understand a cop knowing HIDs on an integra are illegal but i doubt they will know that pre 06 g35's dont come with projectors

Imagine if I get pulled over, I might get citations for my 2003 G35 Coupe:

1. 2004 G35 Coupe center console
2. 2005 G35 19" Wheels
3. 2006 G35 Coupe projector headlights
4. 2007..... (still trying to figure out what's new to cannibalize)

IIRC, I thought NHTSA reversed their decision on aftermarket HIDs. Afterall, who cares if the lights are aftermarket or OEM. The only thing that should be important is if they are aimed correctly, and emit the proper beam pattern.

That would be BS. A nissan part is a nissan part, (especially if you read pg 18 of the Warranty Booklet) Besides, if the part is defective, the part is defective. That's like saying your refrigerator is defective and unsafe. But they will only replace the faulty unit that could explode if you bought it from Lowe's and not home depot.

Or more realistically. It's like the notebook battery issue. It doesn't matter if you have the battery in a Dell, Sony, HP, etc. It's the BATTERY that is the issue, not the notebook.
