Dealer can't bitch about any filter, as long as it meets requirements, and even the K&N does that.

......I should have said "available for my M" .. (not much out there yet. )

......and dealers will bitch about whatever they please........Your only recourse is to go elsewhere, where you will find more mod friendly people.

Tha's because they are old tests. There is a newer test showing K&N passing a lot of dirt in comparison to paper. Problem is nobody really knows how much dirt is too much.
I had one of the Amsoil oiled up foam air filters before. Crappy workmanship. True Flow makes a much nicer one if that's your choice of filters.
Be nice to see a test of Amsoil or AEMs new fiber filters. I think that's the way to go.
AEM has detailed comparison charts on their website.

I don't really trust any filter maker's tests on the competition.

Problem is what or who can you trust? I agree it would be nice to see some objective tests run on newer filter technology.
People put down K&N based on some tests on the internet, and maybe they are valid. Assuming the testers are not biased. Seems no one has a problem trusting that they are not, or their tests are not flawed in some other way.
Interestingly, these tests show differences in filtering, and air flow, but they never establish any criteria. How much dirt is too much?
If filter A is twice as dirty as filter B what does that mean?
Let's say A lets through 10 parts per million, and B only 5 parts. And factory requirements consider anything above 120 parts per million to be excessive. If you catch my drift.

I would like to see a publication like Nissan Sport do a test, similar to what was done for the plenum spacers. I would likely give that more weight, against anything else I have read.
