Neutral, Pat is indeed a moron. Safety issue!? Like do a scenario play here:


Say you are at a stop light and you just so happened to be lucky enough to be parked right behind a red Carerra GT driven by a topless super model on a photo shoot. As you begin to drool uncontrollably, you turn around to reach for that tissue box in the rear seat. Just as you turn your body around and reach for the box your left foot slips off the clutch pedal and the next thing you know, you just rearended the super model because you had your stick in first gear.

Always put it in neutral when stopped and clutch out. U never know what are u going to do at the stoplight.

i see the safety factor for leaving it in gear. anyone who rides a motorcycle would know this first hand. but i usually do as 6MTzer had mentioned earlier.

I sit, clutch down, in first, and hold my RPMs at 4000 till it turns green, dump the clutch and do a smokey burnout at every light.

That guy also wrote, you should shift into second gear before shifting into first (clutch in) if the car has been shut off. What is up with that
