Got into an accident: opinions needed

Yesterday night I was a club in Hollywood, and some idiot paparazzi rear ended me. He jumped out of his car to take some pictures and left it in drive (or perhaps neutral) and hit me and a huge *** 07 Escalade. We were both waiting for the valet (side by side) and his BMW rolled into the middle of us. The Escalade took a majority of the impact, but luckily all it did was scratch up the left side of my bumper. He had a 06 BMW 330 and it put a huge dent into his fender, but luckily somehow my bumper wasn't dented at all.

The Escalade was a driver for a celebrity, so needless to say that guy was pissed, but the paparazzi guy kept telling me he'd pay for it outside of insurance. I dunno what do you guys think? I have a brilliant silver coupe, and he put about a fist sized scratch into the lower left valance part. It's not super noticable, but my car was in pretty perfect condition for being an 03. Normally if someone hit me and it was an honest accident, I wouldn't really trip, but I'm pretty pissed this guy purposefully let his car plow into ours. I don't think I need a new bumper, but it definitely will need to be repainted. How much does something like that run? Should I just go through my insurance? Will it raise my rates at all? I haven't had an accident in 10 years probably (knock on wood)

i think the easiest way is to just settle it outside of insurance it'll be done quicker with less hassle. I suggest you meet him up and just take it to a shop yall both agree on and make him pay for it right then and there

In your situation I would agree and NOT go through insurance as you will more than likely end up on the short end of the stick (with a potential rate increase). Get a couple of quotes ASAP and tell him you want a cashiers check (or cash) for the highest bid. Just my $.02 Good luck!

^^^ $200.00...I wish. This is Cali baby and in Hollywood area too.
You're looking more around 500 -700 bones cuz of the paint too. It's the kind that stays flexible cuz of the poly bumper. That paint is not cheap and to be done right, that about the going rate in Cali.

Yeah...get ALL that guys info and try it w/o insurance. You're doing him a favor. Not your fault, your insurance shouldn't go up if he or his insurance pays your ins co., so don't rule out that option if that Guy starts to flake on you.

Get estimates from the most reputable shops, including your local dealerships. Then choose the best one.

the F does that pic up there have to do with the accident? usually when people complain about an accidnet and provide a pic, they 'usually' post a pic of the damages... not a money shot of the car.

Anyways, if its just a scratch, did you try to see if you can buff it out?
