Residual VDC?
It depends... if it is a gentle slide, it is definitely not too late. The VDC can and will stop mild rotation even after it is underway by way of individual whel braking. Next time it's wet, go to a parking lot, get the car a bit loose w/ VDC off, and then press the brake.

Very interesting. I've never heard this before. It still sounds like it wont be much help at that point though. By the point it kicks in it might be too late already. Still good to know.
I wonder if there's a way to reprogram the VDC to allow more flexibility. Ideally a piggyback setup that would allow a track and stock setting. I guess I might be dreaming.
My concern is that on the track the VDC could be very intrusive. Perhaps track conditions would probably lend itself to much better grip than the crappy streets I have to drive on, but traction control constantly activates in my car during hard launches and 1-2 upshifts and it takes way too long to recover.
Thanks for the input guys.

Thanks for the great info gto2050. Giants Stadium is nice and close compared to all the other places I've been hearing about. I hear Lime Rock is great as well as some places in TN and NC. It interesting that you mention the brakes. I've been really indecisive about what to do with mine. Now that the warranty is up on the brakes I've been looking at the RB oe caliper BBK, a simple Wilwood setup or OEM Brembos. The OEM Brembos seem impossible to come by though. Are u upgrading the whole setup or just the pads and rotors?
Where can I find out info about local events like the MSNE @ Giants? How much is a helmet? I guess I should get myself associated with a group or something.
Thanks again, lots of great info.

You can find tons of info here.
Believe it or not, I am still on stock Brembo's. When they go (I'm going to change just the pads shortly to Hawk HPS) I believe I will switch to slotted Brembo's available from Tire Rack or Stillen. Probably the biggest upgrade you can do is to switch from rubber to stainless braided brake lines. That removes any sponginess in the brakes. You can also change to a higher temp brake fluid. Stock boils at a pretty low temp. Boiling is not good! Unless you really track your car a lot, cross drilled and slotted is more for looks and cross drilling is subjective to cracks. You really don't heat your brakes enough on the street to take advantage of the benefits they offer. On the track, however, is another story. Stock heats up to fade after a few high speed laps.
SNELL and DOT helmets can be had from $79-$999. The old saying is a 50 cent helmet for a 50 cent head. I have a few but my favorite is an HJC CL12. I paid about $129 for a full face. (I use it on my motorcycle as well.) Look here for some deals: http://www.helmetcity.com/Merchant2/...egory_Code=HJC
Also drop a PM to a member named balzz. He tracks his car and he can give you some details on tires brakes etc.

there are couple threads about this, people have either taken out the VDC fuse or you could do a donut*
It's been found that with VDC off, the TCS is still on and along with minimal SLIP control, after doing a donut, the car will turn it all off and the lights SLIP will come on and stay on, meaning that its no longer in control.
