I'm back, plus, New Engine

I logged on this morning for the first time since 11/16/06; it's been a while.

Just dropped in to say that apparently I'm getting a new engine. Like many others, I have been experiencing oil consumption. I consulted with my local service guy, and started an oil consumption test back in late November/Early december.

The first few intervals looked ok; there definitely was consumption, but not above Nissan's minimum threshold. I dropped my car off yesterday for some service, and received a phone call yesterday afternoon from the service advisor stating that "it looks like you're getting a new motor." I was quite surprised.

He didn't have much information for me, and it's not set in stone yet. I'll get more details later. So that means I don't know if it will be a rebuild, a new short block, or new long block.

If it's a rebuild, I might try to get them to install JWT's s7 cams. Regardless, I'll try to get them to put on some headers while the engine's out.

Welcome back Trey! I just got a new longblock installed myself. Unfortunately, mine was after it blew up on me on the highway.

Glad you're gettinga new motor, Im on my thrid interval for my oil consumption test. Service tech tried to blame it on my intake which i think is total bs. Hopefully they'll replace mine as wel.

Fortunately, no. They were really cool about it all. That's all I can share; don't want to get the dealer in trouble...

There's no thread about it, I chose not to slander the dealership and Infiniti NA as they eventually made right... It's the curse of the IP sedans!
