Valentine 1 hardwire question
I've tried searching for this, but no real answers came up. I have an '06 coupe with premium package but no nav. So where the nav would be, there is a small storage compartment. If you flip that up, it would be the perfect place to mount a valentine 1 concealed display. I would like to put the actual detector in my armrest storage compartment where there is the aux power. So I have a few questions:
1) Will the V1 be able to get good detections inside of a box? I mean it sounds like a stupid questions, but where else would I put it so it isn't visible...
2) How do I wire something like that up myself? Can it be done? I have a ton of experience with electrical wiring (majoring in electrical engineering) but I have NO experience removing car panels and what not.
I may not even be asking the right questions, but is what I want feasible? Will it work well or will it just be a PITA to install? Just any feedback you have on the idea, I'd appreciate. Thanks guys, be gentle on me, I'm new

You won't get good detection inside of a box. The instruction manual tells you where to mount it to get the best detection.
since you're new, try using the search function to find lots of info. browse around and you'll find almost everything has been discussed.

^I've had my V1 on the tint strip for years and it still performs well enough to avoid tickets. And I've had metallic tints on both cars my V1 has been in. Plus I've had rear readings up to 3/4 mile after passing a cop who pulled over someone already. Say and do whatever you want but I know in many situations I've been in, my V1 has performed in the tint strip and even partially enclosed in the 3rd brake light housing.
