You won't get good detection inside of a box. The instruction manual tells you where to mount it to get the best detection.
since you're new, try using the search function to find lots of info. browse around and you'll find almost everything has been discussed.
Here are some threads about hardwiring the V1:

You can also buy invisicord and/mike's mount for a super easy stealth install.
Invisicord:

Info on mikes mount:
https://g35driver.com/forums/showthr...mike%27s+mount

search, you'll get all the info you need.

I REALLY hope you were joking about putting your DETECTOR in your arm rest... how the fvck is it going to pick up any signals in your armrest!?

Not a good place to mount the detector . First of all whats your car body made of? I am sure it is steel and it will shield/block the radar signals from your detector. Like it has been said before, do a search here and another place is radardetector.net. Good luck

Try installing the remote display like this and put the V1 unit itself high on the tint strip. From the outside, no one can visibly tell you have one.

do NOT put your V1 on the tint strip, put it just BELOW the tint strip as close to the center of the windshield as possible and make sure it has a clear shot out the back window as well.

^I've had my V1 on the tint strip for years and it still performs well enough to avoid tickets. And I've had metallic tints on both cars my V1 has been in. Plus I've had rear readings up to 3/4 mile after passing a cop who pulled over someone already. Say and do whatever you want but I know in many situations I've been in, my V1 has performed in the tint strip and even partially enclosed in the 3rd brake light housing.

It works behind the tint, but don't you want it to perform at its absolute best?
Why spend $400+ on a detector then cripple it. That's spending big bucks on a performance car and then driving it around on $40 Walmart tires.

I do it for stealth and convenience. Every time I step out of the car, I don't need to worry about taking down the V1 and hiding it. All I can say is it works for me.
