How much are we are talking about here? I know the 6MT costs more since it had the suspensions, rims, HPs, etc.

well this is a no brainer... the Coupe is just plain Nicer, so any car company charges a bit more for the 2 door model its just a Norm.

It used to push more power but that was changed in 2005. However, that stigma never went away. Keep in mind that originally, the coupe came standard with more options (bigger wheels standard and an LSD option) but as the sedan got more like the coupe, the pricing didn't match. As with most products on the market, final price isn't just a reflection of cost but what the market will bear. The market will bear a higher price for the coupe

He's right. The stock coupe did push a little more power and does have a different exhaust system. The power in the sedan was match in 2005 but the exhaust still remains a little different.

I used to work for a marketing dept at one of the auto manufacturer.
Coupes usually cost most than their sedan counterpart is because more
people buy the sedans for the versatility. When u look at the 3 series, C-class, G35..etc,way more sedans are sold, no doubt. Which means the manufacturer has to build in extra $$ to even out the profits for justifying to build a coupe. Plain and simple. And since coupes are regarded as more "sporty", in most people's perception they don't mind paying a little extra.

It all comes down to marketing/profits, baby.

It was partially due to the fuel map that the sedan used. The sedan could run on 87 octane in those days (although 91 was recommended). They revised that 87 recommendation in 05 to match the coupes more aggressive fuel map. Most of the dynos still favor the coupes in 03 to 04 by about 5-10hp due to this difference. Remember, the fastest time thats been recorded in publications is still the coupes (5.5 to 60).

In the end, there really is no difference in speed between these two cars but from a general public standpoint, the coupes had more power than the sedan and to say that they are wrong is just...wrong

Because it turns twice the heads as the sedan does

(The new sedan, though, looks as great as the current coupe)

In the MD/DC/VA area, I see about 5 sedans for each coupe. Regional sales are based strongly on the demographics of the area. It's a guess, but I think that SoCal, and CA in general, is characterized with a "youthful" and "hip" attitude that would attract higher sales in sports cars among younger individuals and professionals alike. In this area, especially considering our vicinity to DC, there seems to be a more conservative aura.

Btw, that station wagon? HOT.

The coupe is also probably a lower production target...lower numbers require higher margins to cover costs, and profit.

The Quattroporte is made by Maserati. They use Ferrari components pretty frequently, though.
