Ferrari did make 2 456's with four doors. They also made some wagon versions.

people buy the sedans for the versatility. When u look at the 3 series, C-class, G35..etc,way more sedans are sold, no doubt. Which means the manufacturer has to build in extra $$ to even out the profits for justifying to build a coupe. Plain and simple. And since coupes are regarded as more "sporty", in most people's perception they don't mind paying a little extra.

It all comes down to marketing/profits, baby.
Anyone interested in the answer, there you go.

Coupes aren't always more. Honda charges a bit less for some coupes relative to the sedan. It's all a matter of the volumes they're shooting for and what market research suggests they can charge.

In general car prices are based on what people are willing to pay. Manufacturing cost only sets a floor. For example, on many SUVs white letter tires are a $140 option. How much do you think making the letters white adds to the manufacturing cost of a tire?

One reason manual transmissions are increasingly scarce is that people expect to pay less for them, but they can cost as much or even more than an automatic for the manufacturer to buy, especially given the relative volumes.

Correct me if I'm wrong but don't they sell far more sedans than coupes?

Since there are fewer coupes available, there is greater demand. But since the sedan is a hot selling car, they are also in high demand.

Coupes of the same class of car probably always cost more. Depending on how you look at it you get less for more money (fewer seats, less headroom) or more for more money (two door looks, maybe some more emphasis on sport and you are less obligated to haul people around).

I spoke to someone at infiniti during the auto show a few weeks back about this, and he gave me a really long explaination and at the end he said basically because teenagers will pay more for the car because they prefer it over a sedan
