What's the name of that "Mod" law.

Can somebody tell me the name of the law that states that a dealer has to prove that a engine modification affected the engine?

The dealer is keeping my coupe over the weekend because they can not figure out why my "check engine light" is on and the car is idling rough.

In every conversation, they keep bringing up the spacer I used to have on the car like it is the root of everything that has gone wrong.

Thanks.

I swear the dealer techs are numnutzs. BUT if you unplugged the TB connector, then indirectly they might be right. But it's hard to comment when you don't specify what code you threw

Thanks for the fast reply!

We ran the code at a local speed shop and the only thing that came up was "random misfire."

The dealer is saying that "One of the banks is not working right" ?

I explained to them that the spacer has been off for five months now and is in no way related. Still they love to keep bringing it up.

"The problem seems to be in the area that you had the spacer."

They might be able to ding you if you installed the upper plenum wrong. ie.. a vacuum leak might cause an erratic idle and a random misfire if one cylinder gets too much unmetered air (ie.. a vacuum leak will allow unmetered air [air not measured by the maf] to get sucked into the engine and will give the ecu a hard time.

I am just hoping for the best now. I had the spacer installed at the speed shop. They specialize in G's and Z's. So I am pretty sure it was installed correctly.

The dealer just called and the problem turned out to be a bad fuel injector.

Nothing to do with the plenum

Hopefully this is what was causing the pinging in the low RPM's also.

What a bunch of idiots the dealer does anything to get out of fixing problems that has nothing to do with mods.

No, my symptoms were the light came on and the car started vibrating. I could watch the stick shift go back and fourth when idling.

The weird thing was, it still seemed to run fine. I think their theory of one bank not working was bull.

Have you checked for any vacuum leaks?

Yes, I thought for sure they were going to blame the spacer for everything. I was very relieved when they said "No charge."
