What is wrong with him living at home? If you are money savy you know how to make your money work for you for as long as possible. Be happy buying your own home, but what is the real reason you are doing it?

Anyhow, just keep putting your money away or doing whatever it is you do with it and be gay. I like how people chime in with words of wisdom, but it's almost as if they just want to knock you down, for errors they might have made in their life

Im only 19 ? Do people expect me to be living on my own? Im currently working and going to school full time. I earn my Computer Networking Engineer Diploma in August and I have 3 certifications under my belt. Im not even done with school and Im already making 30K/year. My total spending costs are 800/month and I bring home 2200/month. I will be living at home for another 1.5 years. I think I can save quite a bit for my upcoming home, and save quite a bit for my GT-R. As for the girl, me and her have been together for 3+ years and were pretty sure were gonna get married. Ive actually lived with her for about 2 months at one point and rarely ever do we get into fights. I simply started this thread to express how about I felt about the G37, and how my dream now is the GT-R, I didnt start this thread to get preached on about my finances, although I do appreciate your concern/advice. Ive always been ahead of the game in terms of age. I think I'll be alright.

Ok, I wish you luck in reaching your goal however I think you are grossly underestimating the costs of things and distance that that money can take you. I assume the 35K is pretax. Assuming you live in low tax area, you are looking at about 25% for taxes. Assuming you get paid every 2 weeks that is only 1009.61 after taxes. Now, rent is going to run you at least $1K a month unless you live in a bad neighborhood or a TINY apartment (this is assuming recent observations of the increases in rent in general). Well that is one check out the door and you haven't even paid for ANYTHING else. Granted the chance is that you will be making more money after school but I would doubt it would be that much more for a while.

Like I said, I applaud you having a goal and a plan - I wish you all the luck in the world making that work. HOWEVER, be realistic in your planning. Spend that money you save on buying a small starter home and hold off on the car if you want to start with some real security in life.

19 and just starting out? i say:
congrats to you! ( first and foremost ) you said you love cars and like to live modestly - but think of all the possibilities in the FUTURE! live modestly, renew your lease, focus on your new job ( which will only bring you MORE success ) invest in a house - then go from there..... get your priorities straight! ( i'm 32 now, don't mean to be so " preacher-ish") but it kills me when i see dope *** cars parked in apartment complexes ( by dope i mean M3's / CL / CLK - fixed up SUV'S--> not just lowered w/ rims..i'm talking candy paint, full kit, interior...showstopper quaity cars) shoot after all that - get your GT-R, come back and post pics..in fact - archive this thread as a "reminder" or use it as a goal - when you get your GT-R..repost this! james

^^^ you got it. The best investment you can ever make is buying a home. We gained $34K in equity in our first 2 years here and it has only gone up from there. Have your goal but plan for your future first. Don't pay rent and make someone else secure and wealthy.

You need to be WELL into the 6 figures to consider a GTR... Unless you have no other life expenses.
