Anyone with me?

Since of my current position of being in a lease with my 06 coupe, the G37 doesnt really impress me to the point of me wanting to switch up. I think starting now, ima do 2 more mods, and save the rest. Considering im only 19 and got a job starting out at 35K in my field of study, I think by the time my lease is up I will well enough have enough for a down payment on a new GT-R. Ill sit tight in my seat and wait for my chance on a Godzilla

How are you going to afford the new GTR? Do you not have any expenses besides your lease payment?

I've always had a love for cars, and honestly, I dont need a huge home. If I can live comfortably in a 2 bedroom condo or something like it, I will. The GT-R is, has, and always will be my dream car. By the end of 08, beginning of 09, I will have enough saved up to get into my dream. Right now im living at home with my parents, so aside from gas and lease payment, and the occasional going out here and there, there is nothing in expense. Godzilla, here I come!

35k/year is not enough to afford a GT-R, let alone a G35 unless you are still living with mommy and daddy, at least its not an advisable move. Most people with G's are making 50k+. If almost all your money is going towards car payments and insurance, you need to reevaluate your priorities

A GTR on $35K a year? I'm 22 making $60K a year and my 06 G is a stretch, in addition to my bills, student loans, insurance, etc...theres no way you're going to afford a 2 bedroom condo anytime soon if you plan to get a $70k car, and at your age, the insurance? Good luck. You won't be able to save any money to by that condo until you're 30...but maybe thats OK with you.

I just think its a bit unrealistic to think you can afford that at this age on that salary - depending on how much you put down, you would be paying close to $1,000 a month on the finance and probably $7-10K a year for insurance on that car, unless you are insured under your parents.

That puts you at $20K a year just on the car alone! How much do you clear per month after taxes? Do the math and see if you can still afford it.

plus 2.

only having to pay for gas, lease, and occasional outtings may make it seem like 35k is a lot. but what about when you move into that condo of yours? youll have to pay for that, bills (cell phone, phone, internet, gas, electric, water, etc.), insurances, food, etc. a nice car may seem cool/important now, but in the long run it's not going to payy off. imo, investing in a home would be a wiser choice.

my two cents tho..

Who said im going to be at this 35K job for another year and a half? Computer networking is one of the best fields to be in, there is so many jobs out there. From now until beginning of 09, im pretty sure I'll be making 55K+. Plus, if im going to move out, im going to move in with my current girl who Ive been with for 3 years already, that way we can split costs. I know you older guys are giving me advice and such, but I know how to handle my money. If im going to be living paycheck to paycheck just to afford my car and things, obviously im not going to do it. I like to have atleast 600-800 of free money every month. I only posted this thread because since the G37 doesnt do much for me, in the meantime until the beginning of 09, I will be saving my pennies to move up into something that will fulfill my dream, the GT-R.

I hear what you're saying and wish you luck. Just remember - probably making $55K isn't the same as making $55K. And trust me - its not as much money as it sounds - after taxes your making a little over 30. I would skip the car and put the down payment on a condo - 06 G35 coupe is still going a pretty nice car to have 3 years from now.

I would be wary of buying and splitting the costs on a home with a girlfriend cuz unless you're married - you never really know what might happen...just my 2.

do you have a college degree? i would suggest spending that money on college. take out a student loan and the money you have saved up will be earning interest. you will have low, if any debt when you get out. to each his own, good luck to you. seems like i entered the wrong field.
