Blowout on dealer loaner

Got a blowout on one of the rear tires on the dealer loaner.

Question: Am I responsible for replacing the tire?

yeah you are...that agreement you sign says you are responsible for damage...infiniti pays half the lease on the loaner cars and the dealer pays the other half...

I wouldn't be suprised if you were responsible if it was due to a road hazard. I always do a walk-around before taking the loaner cars. I found a nail in the tire of a G35 loaner and vomit in the front passenger seat once.

I always check out my loaner cars. This tire blew out on the side not visible upon inspection. I just checked out the tire and I would say 1/4 of it is blown out on the sidewall. There is no puncture or rip on the part of the tire that actually touched the road. I called the dealer and left a message describing my dissapointment at the quality of the loaner cars that I was given.

GrayG35 wasn't too far off, I was coming home from Great America with my 3 kids in the back. They were very afraid, not to mention me, changing a tire on the driver's side at 9 p.m. on a very busy toll road is very challenging. Then they have a donut spare in the trunk, those just don't inspire confidence in me traveling down a toll road. How much more would it cost them to have a full sized spare in the trunk?

I'm going to hit them with an irritated, very dissapointed in their service attitude. The kicker is that my car wouldn't have been there if they would have honored the warranty and replaced a bad AC compressor when I brought it in last week. At first they said that because of a previous collision (about $1100 damage on the driver's side fender) caused an internal failure in the compressor and they weren't going to honor it (there was no visible external damage to the compressor). I blew a gasket. I had my body shop fax them what was done to the car and then I told my service guy that I wanted to talk to his boss and his bosses' boss, etc. Needless to say when they called me back there was no problem covering the problem under warranty.

The Nissan dealer for my wife's Maxima gives a hell of a lot better service with a lot less BS.

I'll let you know what goes down. Waiting for my "no-service" guy to call.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't a dealer loaner be covered under Infiniti Roadside Assistance, at least for flat changing?

I'd doubt you'd be responsible for the tire, but don't play it up to be some major negligence. They can't spend 3 hours on every loaner when they are returned to check for every little possible thing that might go wrong next time it's out....

I'll definitely not play it up at all if they don't give me any flak.

I think I'm still a bit P.O'ed about the AC Compressor.

They still haven't called me back yet. Oh well.

If someone saw you doing burn out when it blew then you are responsible.
If no one saw you. You might get away with it.
Just make sure that car does not smell like burned rubber when you bring it back.

so if the loaner was in the shop yesterday...
and the mechanic puts 40+lbs of air in the tires... how would you know?

you wouldnt unless you were **** and completely checked the car... do you check the oil in the loaner... do you check the thread depth on the loaner, do you make sure the linkage is safe... or the gas tank isnt leaking... NO

let us know how it turns out.

I can't imagine you're responsible. You didn't put all the miles on the tires and the shape they are/were in is not your doing.

Service guy just called and told me not to worry about it that they would take care of it.

So that's good.
