You can drift in any rwd car.
Just be safe about it, it would help if you have a manual too.

I know of a class/school up north in California where you can learn but would need to bring your own car. I have heard they offer great classes and have experienced drivers.

I would buy an old beater to learn how to drift... Unless your G is your beater

+1. Parts for the G are fairly expensive and when you are drifting you will be breaking parts left and right. You would need the 6MT G, a good LSD, and a decent set of coil overs and break pads to start with to be safe. Also, have tons of money for tires, parts, and you would need a second car for when your G is down.

do you mean you'll be breaking parts after the FIRST drift u do, or is it only if you regularly drift on a daily basis? also, what parts would u be breaking?

I am happy with the stock LSD as far as drifting goes. It is very easy to keep the car sliding in control for good 10 seconds.

To the OP, go to a empty parking lot in the rain and start going into circles in slow speeds and gradually increase the speed to see how the car behaves. Whenever u are able to control a slide in the rain then u have past the test. It is very easy to do it in dry after doing it in wet ground. It does take time, patience and calmness to go sideways.

spend a winter in canada, get some good snow tires, and have some fun, then move up to pavement. (i alway suck at drifting modes in racing games... my "keep the car straight" instinct is too strong, all but one of my winters driving have been in rwd cars, with nowhere the weight distribution of the g.)

i would suggest a beater rwd drive car, an old vic or something, add a power adder, for a lot less than the price of a G, and weighs about the same (get an aero (92-97) if you can, lighter), and more importantly, can take hits from the walls quite well. you don't want to be distorting a G.
