O man, I'm so indecisive. I just bought an '07 G35 about a month ago but have been really eyeing down the new G37s. I initially thought the G37 was out of my price range but ended up getting a G35 with a bunch of options and paying almost $40 K out the door. G37s start at $35 K. And I'd gladly downgrade on options to get that car. Does anyone have any clue whether or not it would be possible for me to trade in the G35 and get the G37??? And how much of a loss I'd have to expect? I'm going to go meet the dealer in 3 days to see what are my options but would like any suggestions or opinions first. Thanks in advance!

Since the 08's are out. I would guess that even with the presumably low milage, you will take a hit if you trade. My guess is prob close to $5K. Better off keeping the G35. I would be interested to see how the dealer will work with you on this one.....who knows, you might get lucky.

Makes no financial sense trying to trade-in a car that's brand new.
Also the G37 is not significantly faster than the G35 (both have way more hp than needed anyway !)
Also the interior is close to the G35 plus we get 4 drs if you ever need 'em (and a bigger trunk !)

Also the G40 might be coming out in a few years anyway

Psh, $5k my azz. More like $10k. You'll be buried dude. That's why you make sure you're buying what you WANT at the time of signing. Expect to take a major hit. Remember that the dealership will have to turn around and sell your vehicle as a pre-owned car if they take it in on trade. Since it's already been registered as a new car, they'll have to sell it as a used vehicle this time around. If you strolled onto a dealership, would you pay "new car price" for a used vehicle even if it only had 1k miles on it? Hell no.

If you paid around $40k OTD for your car, subtract tax and fees right there. You can kiss that goodbye as the dealership doesn't profit from tax and fees so you automatically lose that. Then factor in that most new vehicles depreciate anywhere from 20%-30% the second it's driven off the lot and you can see where I'm going with this. For s**ts and giggles I'd suggest going to kbb.com and seeing what the trade in value is on your car.

I don't know exactly what model and equipment you have, but went ahead and booked out an '07 Sedan Journey and Sport for you. I also assumed you got your car with the Premium Package seeing as it's an option most folks go with. I did both appraisals with 1k miles on the clock as you've only owned your car for about a month.

The trade-in breakdown is as follows:

'07 G35 Sport 5A/T w/ Premium

Excellent - $30,425
Good - $28,790
Fair - $25,930

'07 G35 Journey w/ Premium

Excellent - $29,375
Good - $27,850
Fair - $25,010

In all honesty, with the G37 only being a few months old, it allows dealers to be a bit more firm with pricing on the '08 Coupe. Coupled with the fact that the '08 Sedans have just hit dealerships, you can see that you're not in a very good position. Many folks would most likely prefer to get a good deal on a leftover '07 than buy a pre-owned '07 purchased a month or so ago.

In the end, give us a rundown of your vehicle and we'll be better able to assist you in your debacle. Model, options, color, mileage etc...

g37 is not that much faster than the g35, interior is the same and the g35 looks WAYY sexier in my opinion. So I would keep the g35 for sure, first year coupe anyways let them fix the issues.

im sticking with my sedan unless dealer is giving me full option g37 with 5 oil change for stright up trade.

I like the 4 door 08 but I am not too fond of the new 08 coupe. I think the new design just looks a bit too feminine. Just my 2 cents. Oh yeah...I'm sticking with my 03 coupe!

I actually parked next to a black G37 today. I have a black G35. I can honestly say that I would have choosen the g35 given the choice of the two..

I definitely like the G35 sedan better. If it had come w/ the 3.7 engine

screw making the G37 the 'fast/equal' car, let the lighter sedan be faster

The only thing I'm jealous of in the G37 is the iPod interface. Otherwise, it doesn't appeal to me anymore than the G35 I already own.

Make sure you drive the 37 first too. Many who have driven both happily get back in to their 35 and drive away.

So many options for the G35 to make it look how you want it exactly. I like 35 better
