Unhappy Is extended warranty with Infiniti worth it???

My warranty is about to expire, and having hear from a lot of people are complaining being raped by their stealerships makes me skeptical about getting the extended warranty.
what do you guys think?

I'd say no. Mine runs out tomorrow and I contemplated this question for a while. Seeing that the issues I've had were minor annoyances instead of major reliability issues, I'd rather save myself the $2000 it would cost for a 2-year warranty and just pay for repairs as they come. IMO not worth the money.

If you do, shop dealerships like crazy. You can buy an extended warranty at any dealership, does not have to be local.
If you do, get the factory warranty, I would not mess with 3rd party warranties. Too many conditions and out-of-pocket expenses in most cases.

Absoletely it's not hard for just 1 issue in a coupe to blow right past your entire cost of your extended warranty. If you plan on keeping your coupe for sure, I would say get the extended warranty.

Here are some tips..

do you know a finance manager at any dealership? The actual cost of an extended warranty is much much cheaper then what they push on you. Last I checked an $1850 warranty we sell is actually $1050, so if you can find a F&I hookup you are in.

Your warranty doesnt even have to be from infiniti (actually toyota extra care platinum is one of the best extended warranties you can get) will sell you an extended warranty if your still under the manufacturers warranty.

HI guys,

cuna mutual offers extended warranties that are better than some dealers' extended. I sell them at the credit union i work for. They have 3 different packages: silver, gold and platinum(which is a named exclusion only so it's covered if its not specifically named-which is primarily wear and tear items and after-market accessories). and instead of the warranty expiring when u hit a certain mileage per say 60k warranty ends when u hit 60k, it is an "add on servie" so if you car has 30k at the time u purchase the warranty, and you get one for 60k, you will now be covered to 90k-try getting that from the dealer. ANY licensed mechanic that guarantess there work for 6 months and/or 6k miles can do the work(including dealers). All they do is call the 800 # to get an authorization to do the work, complete the work, call back and get paid within 2 hours by cuna's corporate credit card.

Its kinda like GAP insurance i sell... its $299 flat from my credit union vs. $500-800 that ive seen. And to really be honest, cuna mutual can beat coverage and price for any dealer, the only one we cannot usually beat is Mercedes.

Yeah I was thinking about purchasing an extended warranty.
The warranty list for 1,100 dollars.... dealer told me he would sell me the warranty for $250 off that cost. So that would make the warranty $850.
Zero deductible....
It mirrors the Infiniti warranty, and I am wondering if I should purchase it or not?

kinda off the topic but to retain your original warranty did you have to show and keep record of maintenance records? I have heard stories that dealerships often try to blame not getting a oil change is the cause of a sensor going out. LOL

You should ALWAYS keep receipts of work performed and part/supplies you purchase. Some believe unless you become a regular at an Infiniti dealership you will not get good service.
Which is idiotic. There is NO excuse for lousy service. Having to pay more to get better service is asinine. I'm sure they love taking your money if anybody falls into that category.
If your G is running well, how often do you expect to go to the dealer anyway unless you got a warranty issue? Probably not enough for anybody to remember you. I guess you can chat with the tech about how much you love your car, and they will humor you. Want to pay for that privilege?

OK, I'm off my soap box.

I've always either gone to a reputable independent mechanic, or done the maintenance myself. I've done the same for the last 3 vehicles I've owned that were still under warranty, or not.
I do go to a Nissan dealer for oil changes. $10 when I bring my own filter & oil. Cant beat that unless you want to crawl on your back and do it yourself.

You want to get the INFINITI Warranty...

3rd Party is such a headache not only for you but also the service advisors...

With 3rd party warranty, wheel bearing fails, they will cover the replacement of the wheel bearing, but not cover an alignment etc... your stuck with that...

They usually only pay for the primary failed part, not anything else caused by that part failure...

I'm going through the same thing now. Interested to see how many people have made it to 100K miles on their G35 in our group without any major problems.
