So I Arrived in Jacksonville today...

Got into JAX at like 9:00am this morning "after a 3 hour drive" and checked in to my new duty station. I managed to get off work early and made a trip downtown where I proceeded to get COMPLETELY LOST. I found myself in the projects once I got off 17 and had to role my windows up so they wouldnt see some helpless whiteboy in the middle of the ghetto. My butt never puckered harder when I was approached at an intersection "lol" needless to say, I ran that redlight.....Jacksonville is huge and i wasted almost half a tank of gas just getting lost. I purposely got myself lost just to get aquanted with the area, but i didnt wanna end up where I did ~_^. That was by far the longest McDonalds trip I have ever made in my life. Almost 3 hrs. "Haha" May take me a while to learn some roads. At least I know i can hit 95 pretty much either way i got since it winds around JAX.

Welcome to Jacksonville. Every city has parts to avoid and we're no exception. It doesn't take long to get used to the city and find your way around. It is a large city, landwise, and that takes some getting used to.

The last time I was in Jacksonville was for the Gator Bowl when VT played Louisville. We went to Jacksonville Landing and I don't remember the countdown for New Years at all. We stayed in Ponte Vedra, FL. Amazing place. Oh yeah, and I believe Jacksonville is the largest city in the US in terms of area.
