it is most likely your rear speaker "deck" that holds the rear speakers under the rear window in place. Mine clunks under heavy driving and I *%&^% hate it

ok we got a crapload of snow again today and i noticed its not from the rear, it comes from the engine bay, even if i floor it in a straight line with vdc off and no traction, the rear wheels would spin and then started to clunk from the engine bay with the slip light blinking

so its not from the rear, it comes from the engine bay....maybe its the vdc system? but how? why?

damn i know ive read a thread on this, its either the engine cutting power because the vdc is never really off untill "slip" stays on or its the possiby a motor mount problem. Its hard to say when you cant hear it or see it in person

actually i have something similar to that, lets see it wasnt when i turned off vdc, it was when i took out the chip fuse thing. so if i do a 180 it feels like a i have one of those clutch type lsds where it will click click click as you go(mainly when turning) Ive yet to go out and to practice and see if it will affect anything. im scared though, what if the rear axles fall off like in those youtube videos? well it wouldnt happen, but what if it did? that would suck.
anyways when i go out sometime this week im gonna try and find out what it is.

I dont think taking the fuse out will hurt that car, it may screw with nissans computers though. Im not sure what it will do but it may cause the car to throw a code and make the VDC or service engine light to stay on. taking out the fuse may turn off your anti lock brakes too.

I think I read in the manual something about something not turning off completely... I can't remember what page it was though.

I was having a similar issue during an autocross event... it only happened a couple of times, and it would feel like the vdc was kicking in every time the sound occurred, even though the vdc was off. I remember reading too that the vdc will kick back in during extreme cases, even when turned off.

It's called ABLS or something? Active Brake Limited Slip. That doesn't shut off completely, I think.

if the vdc is off... u shouldn't get the slip light. my car's wheels will spin to it's heart's content with the vdc off and i'm on snow. i don't get any clunking noises until i hit my brakes and the abs kicks on. i have an 05 coupe. maybe it has been changed on the newer models.
