i agree with emcee. when japanese manufacturers developed their luxury nameplates, they took cues from the german luxury automakers and dropped their nametags in exchange for displacement and series designations. m series, g series, 430, 350, etc..

its a 3.5L engine

there's also a skyline 250GT that has a 2.5L VQ35HR that puts out about 220PS.

the cars have names with numbers because overall auto manufacturs took some tests way back and found that names with numbers in them sell better. I think its people feeling better than they can see they got the s550 and not the clk320

I got this from a pretty good source so the reason why Infiniti used Alpha-numeric (e.g. G35, M35, etc.) is to distinguish themselves with the luxury brands that does the same thing (i.e. BMW, Mercedes, etc.). That is why Nissan still uses Maxima, Altima, etc., Toyota uses Camary, Supra, etc. but their Luxury brands uses Alpha-Numeric. So, if anything, Infiniti could have called the G35, Inifiniti 350GT, but I guess the letter almost always comes first on the Asian cars though in the US.

Because Nissan wants want to sell "S K Y L I N E" and "350GT" Emblems to Skyline wannabe in USA...

Or

Becasue Nissan wants to jack up higher mark up price by changing the name...

It's sad seeing people re-badging their cars as "S K Y L I N E - 350GT" when they are driving USDM RHD G35....
