So..why isnt G35 called Skyline 350 in US?

because Nissan wanted to sell the car under the Infiniti premium brand name for the US market, and they can't exactly call it an Infiniti Skyline 350gt

Same reason why Acura changed the name of the Integra to RSX, to copy every other luxury brand.

BMW 3 series, Mercedes C-class, Lexus IS, Infiniti G, etc.

It has a 3.5 liter engine, just like the 350z. Similarly, the G37 is named so because it has a 3.7 liter...

Numbers in the name of the car usually equal the displacement of the motor. G35-3.5 liter, Cl55-5.5 liter, LS460-4.6 liter.

Yes its very common to name a car after its displacement in this country....however if you compare the names of the cars in Japan you will usually come up on a normal name....

Like Silvia for 240sx....FairladyZ for a 350z.... Skyline for G35 even thought they do put a 350gt emblem on there.....
