What is engine drive belt?

Does this have to be replaced? According to Infiniti maintenance schedule, this should be replaced at 30K.

The belts on the car. The main crank belt but I would also do the a/c at the same time. Check to see if there is any dry or cracking spots if not you can probally get some more life out of them.

my belts began to *whine* at 45k miles... and that is AFTER I had the dealership's 30k service which supposedly replaced them... though my coupe is relatively low milage (thus older than most with equivalent milage)

I just took a look at it and it seemed to be in pretty good condition -- no apparent cracks and my car has around 30K miles. The weather around here is pretty moderate so I guess it helps.

drive belt aka serpentine belt....which runs basically all the accessories(ac alternator, powersteering, etc.).

Timing chain doesn't need to be change for a long time.

I had a 2000 Corvette that was great until 2006 when the serpentine belt broke at 40k miles. Then the tensioning pulley went a few weeks later.
I would replace whatever is suggested. Getting stranded isn't fun.
