Why royal purple considered no good for VQ?

I just had 5 quarts put into the VQ and I feel it runs a bit smoother (though subjective). I've heard it's a good oil, but I've been searching the Z forum and a few people said it's actually bad for the engine and some reported their VQ's had more wear as the result of using RP synthetic oil. Some said it's a good oil for some types of engine but not Nissan VQ.

Any thoughts?

I've used it without any issues. Only reason I don't use it now is because I switched to Amsoil.

Royal Purple is some good stuff!! The ONLY reason I can think that it might not be good is it does not allow the engine to break in properly. I have not seen any documentation on this and that is only my opinion.

i just use regular oil, and i make sure to chsnge it like every 2-3k miles. right now Nissan is attributing engine failures to the use of synthetic oils. so might wana go to conventional.

I've only had it in for two days now, but so far it performs the same as when I had Royal Purple in there. Only reason I switched to Amsoil is I've heard some issues with running RP MT fluid and Rear Diff fluid. I figured while I was putting in Amsoil for the MT and rear diff I'd go ahead and try their oil and filter as well. They say their oil filter and signature 0w-30 is rated up to 25,000 miles or 1 yr . I'm interested to see how it holds up.

That's why I said I'm interested to see how it holds up. As long as I get a good oil analysis at 3750 miles I don't see why I should change it.

You do know there's way more about oil than just that one test right?
