Click sound from AT gear shift when depress brake in Park
This morning, I went outside and the battery was dead on my 2004 G35 AT sedan. I had noticed recently that some mornings it started slow, so I figured this might be coming. I checked the fluid levels on the battery and they were good, so I bought and installed a new battery.
Now, I notice that when I depress the brake pedal while in Park before shifting gears, I hear a "click" noise. It happens every time I press the brake pedal while in Park, and it sounds very clearly like it's coming from under the gear shift. I assume this is the shift lock releasing to allow me to shift gears, but I don't remember hearing this sound before. There is no noise when I brake while in a "moving" gear (R, D, etc.).
Is this normal and it's just the shift lock releasing each time I press the break while in Park? Have I just not noticed it before? Or do I need to reset something with the shift lock since my battery was changed?
Thanks in advance for any thoughts/suggestions.

It is normal...well not normal, but nothing is really wrong. When you push the break there is something right under the shifter than disengages so that you can move it from park to reverse, drive, or whatever. That is why when your foot isn't on the brake you can't push the button in.

it's totally normal and has always been there... I did the same thing a while back thinking it was a new sound.
