Question melted a/c line

I brought my car to Massapequa infiniti today because my a/c stopped workin out of no where. They told me my injen cold air melted the hose and they wanted $400 to replace the hose which should still be covered under warranty. Has anyone had this problem with that model intake?

Unfortunately yes, I've heard of CAIs wearing through the A/C line. Can't comment on that exact model though. It's friction, not heat, that wears through. Does the tube rest on or near the A/C line where it failed?

it may be near it but when i installed the intake nothing was resting on it. Is there any thing i can wrap the new hose with to prevent this again?
