Can this be done?

Hi everybody, I have been a G35 owner since 2005, I own a black 6mt sedan with some mods (fujitsubu y pipe, catback, injen intake, APS plenum). My father owns a 2004 G35 coupe, my sister owns a 2004 G35 sedan and my mother drives a QX4, so we have had some experience with Infiniti.

I am a chef and HK enthusiast, thats really all you need to know about me.

My question, is there anyway to mod or buy the ability to lock the small compartment above the glove box?

I am sure that it would not be that hard to modify it and use a glove compartment lock with the latch. That is if you are mechanically inclined and willing to cut up your dash trim to try it. You could always just buy a dash trim from a junk yard and try it.

Well, I talked to a cop about how to secure valuables and he told me "best bet hide it", "put valuables were they won't think to look".

Minimal strength is used to pry a glove box, the upside to the cubby, most people don't even know it is there. Kind of like the first aid pack in the back seat.

I know a place to stash/ hide, hehehe some ppl may not know about it, its a small square hole in the center glove compartment behind where you would normally put ur stuff, its covered by a piece of plastic. iono if its only in certain models.

well the small glove box is right above the regular one, i doubt they would miss it lol and putting a lock on it will only make it more visible!

Well I am not talking about a padlock (something flush), and most people who are not familiar with these cars don't notice it. And I imagine a idiot thief in a hurry in a dark parking lot would not notice either.

i agree. people not familiar w/ our cars don't notice/know about the upper glove box area. i'd be interested in locking it, too.

so, the bigger question. were you one of the winners on Hells Kitchen??? or do you work behind the scenes? do we have a celeb here? haha i love that show.

No, thou I could smash those idiots on that show, I am to qualified to get on that show they like to hire electricians.

HK (Heckler & Koch) was referring to my firearm of choice which might give you some more insight to why I want to lock that cubby.

IF you are hiding a Gun the best place is where I put Mines in the back where the medic pack goes under the little Hidden board.

I guess that would be a good spot if getting to it quickly was not a necessity.
