Front Driver Seat Controls: Broken

I've searching and only came up with dead ends, but if this topic has been discussed I apologize.

While I was living out of the country (for a year), my Dad basically drove my G into the ground. I came home to a mess and needless to say was VERY disappointed in the condition it was in. One of the things he managed to do while driving my G daily was spill some coffee or soda onto the front driver's seat control unit. The triggers are very sticky and the one used to recline the seat forward and backwards does not work. I still believe that they are functional only if I can get in there and clean them out. My question is, how can I do this without breaking the unit?

Thanks!

PS

My Dad obviously loves my G over his Merc but still to this day won't admit it.

I know I should take pics of the damage. He drove it cuz he didn't want to do it to his merc. I dont care, but I wish he could have taken better care of it.

You might just try dripping some alcohol down into the switches. Do it a few times and see if it gets any better. The alcohol should drip out the bottom of the switching unit, taking any gunk, and evaporate without doing any harm to the doors inner workings.

Do it with the window in the up position, just in case.

Let us know if it works.

not to sound like a dick but i would have my dad pay for that stuff or at least put some money towards it. no reason to drive your nice *** car around and treat it like **** when he has his own to ruin.
