Old people should not be driving!

After last night's meet, we all ate at Friday's. I left to pick up my gf and was driving in the right lane on the Belt (local highway). Just chilling, listening to music, going 60-65. Then this old dumbass in the middle lane on a Cadillac El Dorado (or some other ****) changes into my lane while going literally 40 mph! He did this while I was like 20 ft behind him and all I had time to do was slam my brakes. It looked like I was gunna be able to slow down enough but I think he actually pressed his brakes when he saw me in his rear view. I tried to stick to the right to avoid him but there is a wall so I didn't wanna hit that and ended up smacking into his right corner. So I flash the **** out of him and put on my turning signal to pull over. We pass by an exit and nothing. Wtf? I pull up next to him and signal to pull the fck over.

Of course, all he had was some scuffs and scratches on the bumper, while I have a broken headlight, bent hood, bent fender, and ripped bumper. I'm hoping nothing inside is damaged. So I flip on this guy, tell him he needs to look before changing lanes. He doesn't care, says I was going to fast. I'm like, NO you were going too slow AND you turned right into me. He says it doesn't matter, I'm behind him so it's my fault. And that we can call the cops right now and they can deal with it.

I know how the law works, and it's going to be my fault because I'm behind. And if they look at my car (modded) they'll assume I was speeding or something. It's just such a bullsh1t situation and never thought something like this could happen unless you're going really fast and somebody switches in front of you. But I was just cruising to pick up my GF and somebody going SLOW makes me get into an accident. I took the guys info but let him go, there is no point trying to pursue anything. My insurance would go up, it's just not worth the trouble.

Now what I really need is a good deal on a hood (I can get bumper and headlight). Stock coupe hood or TS carbon fiber, whatever. Help me out!

Another one of these old people threads again I wasn't there so I don't know who was at fault. If he cut you off and slammed on his brakes, then yes he's an idiot. But, it's not because he's young or old, it's because he's an idiot and can't drive. Was the middle lane (where he came from) open? If it was, you could have changed lanes. BTW, I'm 70 and hate these threads. Don't lump all of us old folks into one category please

no witnesses? that would make the diffrence when/if you go to your insurance. The insurance company would probably side with you.. considering the damage on your car, and his car.. im sure they would believe your speed claim. It would have been MUCH worse if you were speeding.

You could also insist that the old man be driver tested (duno the rules/laws in your state) and claim that he is unfit to be driving... if youre feeling that pissed and crule about it lol

I feel you tho, Ive had numurous almost accedents involving elderly drivers, and half the time they are unaware that they even did anything wrong.

Wow and your drive a G35? You are one cool old guy But the fact is, the large majority of old people drive under the speed limit. I almost got in an accident because this old lady was STOPPED in the middle of a high-speed of ramp, I think recommended was 35 but I was going about 50 and I saw her just in time. I slammed on my horn, almost got rear ended, then she pulled over doing 20 mph.

I'm sure your nothing like that though. Old, drives a G, and is very computer literate? Your grandchildren must love you if you have any

Damn bro that sucks. I might have a stock hood laying around if your interested. I know you are/were furious. You should've let the NY ****** and dd!cks show up though. It looks clearly like the other guy is at fault but also the insurance will have to weigh in on that one. Glad you mantained your cool though.

Senior drivers vs General Populace....your choice!

Yea, some older folks drive too slow and their reflexes aren't as quick as they
once were but that's a small percentage. I'd rather drive around older folks
than some of the Asians or Hispanics that don't have a clue what they're
doing behind the wheel....and yes they're still plugged into their cell phones
because they haven't heard about the new laws. Rather than ragging on
seniors look around you at how the majority of our populace drives....scarey!
Sorry about your accident, tell your insurance company what really happned
and how he basically cut you off.

Dude...I JUST got mine fixed. I was at the gas station backing into a spot to pump gas and some OOOOOOOLD guy, had to have been close to 70 tried to swoop into the pump before I was completely in and clipped my rear bumper.

I got out of my car PISSED. I was ready to just lose it until I realized just how old he was. I did however start yelling at him "WHAT THE FVCK ARE YOU DOING?!?!"

He had the AUDACITY to say that it was my fault because I was backing up. Then after we exchanged info, he changes his story to tell me that I thought I was done fueling and was in a hurry and tried to take my spot before someone else did.

I then asked him, "You thought I was leaving the pump in reverse?"

Situations like this are difficult to prove fault...luckily I had two eyewitnesses that corroborated my story and his insurance company ended up accepting liability.

I called my insurance company immediately after it happened and filed a claim and that old fart took almost 3 weeks to even respond to the calls from both his and my insurance company. He didn't even bother to report it. What a complete piece of ****.

that is a false statement...you should've contacted the police! this happened to me before some guy went over 3 lanes of traffic at 20 mph, this was in the middle of 45 mph traffic and i couldnt avoid him so ended up i rear ending him. anyways long story short the police arrive measure my skid marks on the road and determine i was going the speed limit and he was at fault for improper lane change. as long as you know you werent at fault you should persue a claim and follow up on this matter.

OMG that sucks sooooo bad!! Dude if you were out here I would be there to help in a heart beat.

I know you wanted this moved to the sedan section but I don't have mod rights to this section so I can't move it.

Wow, sorry dude. It hurts to see the best looking sedan here damaged like that. I hear ya about the insurance. I had something similar happen to me once and I let it go cuz it wasn't worth the trouble and paying the higher insurance for years. Good luck getting her back in shape.
