The G and seatbelt may have saved my life, G is no more! RIP

Last Sunday 11/2/08, the car I loved so much and I got into a very bad accident. I was driving west bound on Northern Bvld in Queens, NY. I had a green light and the right of way when a large Dodge full size van facing east bound suddenly decided to make a left turn right in front of me. I can't remember exactly, but I don't think I had much of a chance to brake and if I did it was too late. He was too close when he turned in. I slammed into the side of him and t-boned him.

I was able to walk out as the cabin was intact. The front end was toast. The drivetrain dropped and all the airbags popped. The driver of the other van seemed ok with just a bruise on his face. His passenger seemed ok, but unfortunately a pedestrian was struck by the van. His condition is unknown, but I don't think it was life threatening, although I sure he's in more pain than I am. I'm in pain, but nothing is broken and I'm in one peice.

To everyone here....PLEASE WEAR YOUR SEATBELTS! I've seen too many people not wearing seatbelts out there and if I were one of them that evening, I might have been ejected through the windshield.

I don't know if I will be able to get another G at this point as my finances are tight from starting a business a couple of years back.

Here's a link from my post of last round of mods a while back: My G as it last stood before accident. The saddest part is that the engine failed just recently, I got a brand new one under warranty and it just broke in the night before. It only had bet 1200-1300 miles on it. The tranny due to previous problems has only about 12K miles on it. So the car had a new lease on life and was feeling really good.

Here are some pics of the accident:

WOW! I'm glad you are safe and okay. +1 for wearing a seatbelt, I don't know why people are so lazy with them.

Thanks guys. The car did take a lot of impact, it seems very well designed for crashes considering the cabin was pretty much intact. Not sure what's next. Gotta wait and see. I got my 1st offer from the insurance company and they aren't covering any of the mods or extras, but I'm not gonna take it sitting down. I'd like to get another one if I can. Probably used at this point, since I won't be able to afford a new one. Sucks though, cuz I bought her new and had to order her from Japan. The config was very rare, with Nismo, 6mt, and Navi. To top off the new engine/tranny, I also recently bought an extended warranty and this month was my last payment.

I saw you somewhere on LIE don't remember where it was exactly, or it was at some meet if you went to one.

Car, is definately totaled. Insurance made an offer to day, but wouldn't cover any of the mods/extras. Waiting to see if I can get into another G. If so I'll probably re-use the Brembos and maybe the wheels. Everything else is destroyed or not worth removing due to labor. Sucks cuz I'm losing a lot of little things that I can't afford to replace for a while.

I've only been to 3 meets, I think. 1 in Jersey, 2 on LI. I'm always on the LIE, so maybe that's it.

Is the insurance offer you recieved from your company, or his?

Make sure they know about the new motor and trans as it will affect your valuation.

If you are going through your carrier, make sure you claim anything unpaid as far as mods are concerned through the other carrier if it isn't covered under your policy.

Also, check the valuation you were provided (probably CCC Valuescope) and make sure all of the options and condition ratings are correct.

PM me if you have other questions.
