Hi everyone..(newbie)
Just wanted to say hi to everyone,
There is a lot of talk about oil problems. I just bought on 07' 6MT coupe, the Infinity dealy told me the previous owner complained of excessive oil consumption, therefore Infinity has agree to replace the motor with a new one....nice for me. However the salesman told me to drive it to about 100K then bring it in for the motor replacement (max out my miles first)
Any thoughts? agree/dissagree?
BTW coming from a Pontiac GTP GP .....no comparison, G35's are so much more fun to drive.
Thanks!

Just get it now. That's what I would do anyway, with all the shady dealerships, and esp. since so many are going out of buisness, they are porbably just trying to aviod the charges.

Unless you 1) have it in writing (preferably blood) from the dealership that they will "replace the motor at no cost for material or labour up to 100,000 miles" AND 2) plan to keep the car for at least 10 years...do it now.

I don't see a problem with it.
Just get it in writing, make sure it spelled out very clearly that they will replace the engine with a new OEM engine and all associated warranties, including all parts and labor.
May even want to take an hour to run out and have an attorney review it before you close the deal.

You should go ahead and do it now. I'm not sure why the dealership would have you wait for a repair. You might not even have the car to 100k and if you do you will always have to be worrying about checking the oil level. I work at a dealer and our shop would never tell a customer to put off a repair like that. Even if it's a warranty repair we would still make some money on it. If you have any other Infiniti dealers close I would probably talk to them about it for a second opinion.
Thanks, I think will tell them to order it in, your right, they might have some sort of "trick" up there sleeves, like suddenly its out of warranty.
Thanks for all your responses,
I'll let you know what happens.
