to heat or not to heat

Howdy - 2004 Coupe 42K. There is very little heat. At idle it disappears. After running on high the little bit of heat disappears.

Usual suspects? t-stat? air pocket? Someone at O'Reilly's said the gate in front of the core can stick.

The tstat is cheap like $30 - Anyone know how easy that is for DIY?

Would appreciate any help - I don't have the cash for a big service ticket atm.

Easiest check is to see that you have enough coolant. If you're low, then you might have an air pocket in the heater core like you mentioned.
