G35 Trivia: Identify This Part!! 5AT

My shifter on my 5AT must be forced out of park to be operated(I should probably say stuck in park, but I force it out, w/e it has been like this for almost a year and I can't !@#$ing stand it).

The big box in the picture is what I believe is wrong, it looks like a motor about the size of a D Battery. I assume it is suppose to move the piece back (small box) to make way for the shifter when I press the brake/shift **** button in, but it doesn't move.

Does anyone know what this piece is called?

When I press my brakes, nothing happens, I have checked and my brake lights DO work and the lights PRND DO light up, so I can assume it is receiving power, does it just need to be replaced?

Please Discuss..., what else should or can I look for to narrow the diagnosis?

So I can assume that this is more than likely the problem? The other brass looking thing that is in fornt of the solenoid also does not do anything, is it suppose to?
