I got rid of my carbon fiber hood, and put my stock hood back on.. but the driver's side of the hood is "raised" about 1/4". The passenger side is even/flush with the fender, but the driver side is about 1/4" higher than the fender. I was able to get it to about 1/8" but the hood fitment was all out of whack. There was too much gap horizontally on the passenger side since I pulled the hood towards the driver's side. I've tried adjusting the latch, but no luck, and I don't see a reason why it would cause one side of the hood to be off while the other side was perfect.

As it sits right now, everything is aligned perfectly horizontally (gaps), but the hood is about 1/4" raised on the driver's side. I don't think anything in the engine bay is in the way, and the hood closes/latches pretty easily.

The hood was in my friend's warehouse for about 2 years, but it looked fine. It didn't seem like it was warped, but then again, I have no real proof besides my eyes.

Any ideas? I will post pictures when I get home.

Do you have hood shocks?

Could there be something hitting the plastic brake cylinder compartment divider that runs to the edge of the engine compartment? I had to trim that piece after installing my hood shocks.

 

No, I don't have hood shocks. The weird thing is that my CF hood (the one I replaced with the stock hood) fit fine.

 

check the hood hinge, it may of been bent in the replacement process. also how did you store the stock hood, it might of warped out of shape

 

That's what I was gonna check when I get home.. gonna check the driver's side hinge. As far as the hood, I think it was just sitting inside the Seibon hood box, and sitting on top of some wheels. It looks perfect.

 

Now I don't have a G, but maybe I can be of some help.

Does your car have the hood stops, one and the left and the right side by the bumper. I know alot of cars have these.

It sounds like you just need to lower one side until your hood is flush with your fender. Again I don't have a G so I might be wrong, but that has been the case with my old car when I was putting my stock hood back on. Just a thought.

yes, our cars have two hood stops and you can adjust the hood gap by rotating them. they're located on the forward edge of the hood (imagine it closed) at each end of the grille.

 

Are they the rubber ones?

I removed everything that could get in the way, but there's still a gap. There is already a gap starting from the hinge area all the way to the front of the hood.. so I don't think its the hood stops. The gap gradually gets bigger as you move from the hinge towards the front of the hood. Also, when you lay the hood down (without completely latching it), the gap is already obvious between the two sides. I don't know what's going on. It's frustrating.

Do you guys think it's a hazard? The hood won't flip up on me would it? I tightened the latch pretty good to make sure.

 

As long as the latch is on you should be safe

 

Happened to my friends car after she got her car back from the dealer..

She kept jumping on the hood and sitting on it... it eventually evened out after plopping on it about 10 times.

 

Can you ask your friend if she can come over and jump and sit on my hood?

I've probably spent a good 5 hours trying to get this thing even, but no luck. If I get one side to be flush, the other side gets messed up. I just made sure the latch is bolted up nice and tight.

 

i have this exact same problem, but my PASSENGER side is the raised side... i thought it was warped b/c the hood is held up by the bar on that side when it's open.... i tried bending it back by hand, but i'm afraid to bend the hinges more, since i already have the hinge problem and rubbing.....
i'm not sure what to do as well... perhaps i will try pushing it down like stated b4

 

I have the same exact problem as UR2EZ. I made numerous attempt to adjust via hood hinge and hood shocks, but it only made a slight difference...
