G35 Acessories for Maintainence and Looks

Hey Guys,

As of Monday December 222nd I became a proud new owner of a fully loaded liquid platinuma G35x sedan! It's been a sheer pleasure to drive and I love the power, acceleration and the growl the engine makes under the hood. What a Christmas present and on top of that I'm 33 and it's my first official new car. My previous cars had been hand me downs from my family so needless to say it is an exciting feeling to own this car.

My question for you more established owners is what accessories do you think I should purchase to help maintain the car? I'm thinking of going to Pep Boys this weekend and buying a few things to keep in the trunk. I was thinking of buying a shammy to keep the dash looking spotless to minimize dust accumulation and also maybe a portable car vacuum? Do you guys have any advice on what type of vacuum or anything else I should purchase? Also how often do you guys get your cars cleaned/detailed? I love the new car look and would like to maintain that as long as I can.

I was also thinking of adding some accessories to enhance the looks of the exterior of the car like some rims and maybe tint the windows. What else do you guys reccommend doing?

I appreciate you suggestions!

Tint windows
Clear corners

Rims is your choice since they are so expensive.

For your interior, get 303 aerospace for the dash and all the panels(and a microfiber to apply), and Lexol leather cleaner and conditioner should be good for your seats, and your probably don't even need a portable car vaccum. I do mine like weekly when it's in the garage.

I would say get one detail, and then just learn how to maintain your car. Get a GOOD detail, not a shop or dealer one. If you maintain your car, with microfibers, car soap, and wax after you should only have to detail it maybe every 1-2 years.

Next time, search or Google before you ask, and you won't have to wait for an answer...

Clear corners are clear versions of the amber colored lights on the front bumper, the ones that are separate from the headlights.

I would suggest a magnetic oil drain bolt or a FilterMAG or something like it.

If you change your oil yourself, you might be interested in a Fumoto valve, or quick oil change valve.

I usually keep a few tools in my trunk, along with a cross wrench, and a tire repair kit, just in case.

If you're the type to always keep your car looking immaculate, you might want to look into a quick detail spray. With a good coat of wax, the little dirt that accumulates comes right off, and it won't scratch your paint like a California Duster would.

As for aesthetics, the door trim must go! And if you have an 03-04 model, the doggy door and tail lights must go too!

303 should be in most auto stores. It's an extremely versitale product that has very good results. Keep up your interior/paint and your car is gonna sell for a lot in a couple years.

Congrats and welcome.

Clear corners, tint, and a spoiler are the must do aesthetic exterior mods imo.

Plenum Spacer, grounding kit (for the 5AT), well thought out intake upgrades, and rotor/pad upgrades are the low hanging performance improvement opportunities.

Spend money on tires. Run premium gas. Stay on top of the prev maint.

I keep a radar detector in the glove box for spirited canyon runs or road trips. Emergency road kit in the trunk (all the basics; jumpers, pliers, blanket, water, flares, fix a flat, etc.). I keep the cargo net hanging and have a couple of items in there as well; umbrella, ice scraper. I took the clubs out and keep them in the garage now.

Heavy detail (clay, polish, glaze, wax) twice a year.
Light detail (wax) twice a year.
2 bucket wash and detailer spray in between (weekly or every other week).
Hit the interior dust/vacuum/leather at every wash or as needed.
Only touchless washes if you have to go that route at all (i.e. winter).

If you live where there is snow and intend to drive your X in the snow, invest in all-season floor mats.
