Brembo Brake Question

This might be a common thing or I might just need some new brakes, but it seems that when I am driving in wet weather my braking response sucks. It feels like I have to push a lot harder on the brake pedal then when it is dry! Is this common for high performance brakes or do I have an issue?

This should not happen in wet or dry unless you submerge the brakes in a large puddle. The brake pads are always making contact with the rotor, so it should scrub off any moisture immediately. Are your pads reaching the replacement time?.......Are you sure your stagger set up isn't messing with your VDC/ABS?

How old and what type off pads do you have? Also have you bleed out your brake system lately?

I replaced them about 10k miles ago. I bled them out when i changed pads and rotors but it was doing it before then too. It only does it the first time that i get on the brakes hard in wet conditions and then they are fine they work like they normally do. The only reason I am asking right now is because I literally almost killed myself on my way to work.

I don't think that it is messing with the ABS/VDC due to the fact that I do not feel ABS kick in and the VDC is really not cutting engine power do to slip!

If it was air in the lines it would be doing it constantly and not just when it is wet out......so that solution or answer to the problem does not quite make sense to me!

how are your tires... if they do not grip very well in wet conditions, then the loss of traction will then make it harder for your brakes to work.

Tires are brand new! So I am pretty sure that it is not them either. Like I said if I am on the highway for a long period of time and then hit the brakes in wet weather they act up once. The next time I hit them they are fine! It is just strange and I was just wondering if anyone had a similar experience with the brembos!

When the rotor gets wet it's normal to lose some stopping power. It's possible you have environmental conditions that make more water collect on the rotor, you are using non-OEM pads or worn pads that are more susceptible to this problem, or you might just notice the loss of stopping power more than other people.

I've always noticed that wet brakes reduces braking power, both with disc and drum brakes. The problem should go away if you apply the brakes with medium pressure a couple of times while making a long stop.

Somebody asked what kind of pads you use. I had some Performance Friction Carbon Metallics on my last car (Nissan Skyline R32) and when they were cold they barely stopped the car. First stop in the morning was always hairy - I almost ran into the back of a police car Once I did that first stop they were fine.

Maybe your pads get very cold when wet.

I too have the same problem. It happens only when the at cold conditions( temp below 32f), other wise, its good.

I need to stepp on the brake couple of times to ease the pressure.
