New Key and Remote FOB $400? Really??
My car keys were recently stolen from the basketball courts in my apartment complex and now I only have one set of keys. I asked my service advisor how much a new set of keys (key and remote rob) was and he said $400.
Does $400 sound right??

I wouldnt be worried about the 400 if a set of keys was stolen from you. You should be worried about your car being stolen, they could easily walk around clicking the FOB until they find the right car. You should be looking at getting the Car and FOB and Keys Changed....
Yea $400 is about right. They know they are the only ones that can do this for you so they milk the **** out of it. You could order a key of ebay or something but they would have to program it for you and probably charge you $200 for that.
GM does this too except to a further extreme. The Key(chip key) without a fob is $250 to buy then $150 to program and that's not even a fob I wouldn't want to ask what that's worth.
As the guy above said, I'd be worried about your car getting jacked by whoever it is that stole your keys. Unless you lost them and are guessing they were stolen?

I bought a replacement key for my Buick Regal a few years ago from the dealer for $20. This is the key with the "chip" (actually, it's a resistor pellet). The key fob retailed for $30. The dealer wanted $65 to program the duo, but the service manual explains how to do it without requiring GM's Tech II scan tool to perform the procedure. GM has since moved away from the resistor-based Passlock anti-theft system and moved to a slightly more expensive transponder system. Even GM's newest fobs with remote start retail for little more than then older style. However, fewer and fewer GM vehicles allow for programming new fobs without the factory scan tool. The prices you were quoted are extreme end excessive.
i was in the same situation when i lost my keys and fob. I had to tow my car to the dealership which was 60$. The dealer charged me 120 for the key and reprogrammed to the car. The key fob i recently bought on ebay for 20 bucks and it took 10 minutes to program to my car. In total it only cost me $200 bucks including the tow fee. You should hold off on the key fob because they charge a lot for it. For one key, it should only cost you around 120-150.

this might help worked for me.
Also I agree with other I would get them to reprogram the module, and if a key was on it get the car rekeyed.
Best of luck.
