How bad is it to drive an auto coupe??
How bad is it to drive an auto coupe??
OK, i'm really debating to get either a 6mt or auto. The obvious choice is 6mt hands down but i recently had an accident that left me with some nerve damage so long story short, i don't feel %100 my left foot, pins and needles 24/7. Thing is, i drove my boy's S2000 the other day to see how i would handle it. I've driven MT all my life and It was a little overwhelming but not as bad as i thought it would be, i just need to get used to it i think, plus its all muscle memory right?
But seriously guys, how much am i missing out on the g35 experience by getting an automatic? Any opinion would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys, God bless..

i technically CAN it will just take a lil for me to get used to driving stick again. Forgive my ignorance but is slap shift the paddles on the wheel? Thanks O HELLA OEM, if all else fails i'll just get an automatic, pluse i think an auto will keep me from getting many many tickets lol

I always drove sticks, but then I got married and my wife can't drive a stick, so it's autos for me these days. While I sometimes miss driving a stick I also enjoy just being able to relax. Especially when I'm stuck in traffic. It sucks being on and off teh clutch in bumper to bumper traffic.

Joker thank you for clarifying that for me man. hey mike your right it would suck to be stuck in a lot of traffic with MT, thankfully i live in charlotte and i'm close to my job so don't really have a lot of traffick issues. Main thing for me would be getting used to shifting without ****ing my car up eventually. I dunno, it's a decision im'a have to take ASAP.
How is the navi by the way?? I know it's a safety precaution but it does kinda suck that you can't search the navi while driving, not that i would necessarily do this but for example if someone was with me in the car.

slap shift real name automanual. its just like a stick w.out the clutch ( electrically driven tho) when in auto u move ur shifter to the right and push up for up shift and push down to down shift.
If you've driven MT all your life, you should know how to shift, right? I learned how to drive MT on my G35 (got it about a month ago, still perfecting the smoothness) and although I've stalled a few times and burned the clutch every so often on take-off, I'm sure the car is fine. I'm pretty sure these cars can withstand some abuse; after all, they're sports cars and they were built to be driven somewhat aggressively... My friends said my G is very different when shifting 1st-2nd... The RPMs don't drop as quickly when shifting in low RPMs or something (I wouldn't know; this is the first stick I've driven) but again, you'd probably get the hang of it quickly since you've driven before... If you're physically capable of using the clutch, I say why not? It's helluva lot more fun than just stomping down on a pedal! If your leg is really going to adversely affect the shifting... Then I would say play it save with AT... It's all up to you and what you think is best for you =)
i drive a 5AT also and i came from driving a 5MT for 7 yrs...its not that bad sure sometimes i miss driving stick but i was tired of shifting all the time. i just wanted a car to cruise in
I also drive a 5AT.. I bought it because the car was pretty much mint, I did want a 6MT at first but I do have an hour commute every day so in the end I am happy with my choice.. In traffic you cant beat it, my girlfriend also can drive it. I dunno if thats a good thing or bad thing
