Tough Decision... G35 vs M3
my best friend has an e46 m and i spent all day in it today...
he can take me, handles way better and has way more options for mods and parts.
the 335 is quick but only in a straight line... personally i would go m...

serioulsly? hahhaaa you have no idea what those cars are capable of. even a 03 wrx with a down pipe and catback will make more to the wheels than a g35 with way more money and mods.G35 are awsome cars but performance wise a WRX/STi or EVO is much much better.
Actually, I have a very good idea of what they're capable of. I've driven all 4, and a friend owned an STI until he realized what a terrible daily driver it was and bought a 330xi. And I never said the G35 would outperform the STI or Evo. I said they were comparable. A stock STI does 0-60 in about 5.3 seconds, the G35 about 5.8, the Evo a little faster than both, and both beat the G in the ¼ mile by about a second and a half. The STI/Evo handle better in the corners, but the G stops quicker. I would call that comparable. The G loses the performance competition, but it's not like we're comparing a Mustang to an Aspire.
But as I said, that's where the comparison ends. The G35 and M3 are better in every other aspect than either the STI or Evo, and it's not even close. The STI/Evo are both little sh*tbox tin cans with high performance engines and suspensions and that's pretty much it. They're cramped, have crappy interiors, are very noisy, have a very harsh ride, cost more to insure, and have a limited market for resale, with the Evo being worse than the STI in all these categories. Other than ***** out performance, there isn't a single thing about them that's as good as a G35 or M3.

Not a simple decision...
Well my roommate used to have an E46 M3... 2004 I believe. It was an absolutely gorgeous car, and it performed in every possible way you could imagine. ***** fast, handles on rails, and above all it drives like a BMW which is just about as good as it gets.
I recently had the chance to buy this car from him (it needed like 2k-3k in work) for 12k @ 66k miles on the clock, and I didn't think about it for more than a few seconds. Bought the G instead.
Don't get me wrong, I love my G and it performs great, but it is no M3. Why would I have gone with the G over the M3? Unless you have a sick sick bank roll, you can't afford to drive that car, regardless of how cheap you get it. My roommate and his parents probably sunk in well over the initial purchase price of the car ($60k +) in unscheduled maintenaince and repairs. And he didn't drive that much, he only works a mile from where we live. Yet that damn car was in the shop more than it was out, and that is just barely an exaggeration. If you care at all about the reliability of your car and cost to maintain it, there is really no decision, you go with the G.
But if you don't mind spending out the *** for random breakage, then the M3 is a fantastically fun car to own.

+1 for sure. Plus parts are lots cheaper for the G. The cost for parts and maintenance are by far the biggest reason I didn't get anything German. My sister has put a good $3500 into her 330xi over the last couple of years.
