2005 G35 6spd mt
I recently purchased a 2005 G35 Coupe, 6spd mt. It's black on black with Navi-40,000 miles. Nice car so far but I need some advice. When shifting into all the gears, it's just not ummm, smooth. It does not grind but it's not always easy to go into gear. Also when letting off on the clutch, when the pedal comes all the way back it sometimes will make a noise, not sure what to think of that. A friend has an S2000 and experienced similiar stuff with his so he adjusted his cluth and then did a drain and refill on it. He said it's much better. I work for a Nissan dealer and I was going to let them adjust the cluth and do a drain and refill or just a manual transmission service but they insist on putting Nissan Gear Oil back in. My friend swears by Lucas. I went to the store and looked around and I also saw Mobil 1. I currently use Royal Purple oil in it but I have not really heard good things about putting Royal purple into the manual box or the diff. Any advice would be appreicated. Should I go back with Nissan manual tranmisssion oil or is Lucas good or Mobil 1. Help me out.
The transmissions in our car's aren't as smooth as others. As long as it's not grinding, there's probably nothing wrong. I actually quite like it, it's a very precise, direct feeling. My other car has a much smoother shifter, but it doesn't give as much feedback as that in the G, so I like it less.

If u don't believe me that a counter weight dose anything because it just seems like a stupid idea, drive with ur OEM shift **** for 2 weeks, then switch to a light weight shift **** and u will defiantly feel the difference, trust me, i know

just my $0.02
yeah the g is definitely diferent than most other 6MT cars that i have driven. Its also alot harsher, but i kind of like it. you will get used to it. Especially switching into 2nd gear

Assuming that nothing is abnormal, you will get use to the transmission. It is not as smooth or refined as other transmissions (even compared to the G37's tranny), but I kind of like how direct and engaging it feels.
Tranny
I think I can get used to the tranny shifting but what do yall think about the noise the clutch makes. It's hard for me to discribe except to say that when coming back off release when it's almost all the way back up it will make this noise, kinda like a popping noise. Anyone have a clue? Also I was going to go ahead and do a drain and refill on the tranny and diff. I might go with Lucas or the OEM, not sure yet. My main concern now is the noise in the clutch pedal.
