Make sure you have a little extra. Sometimes I need to add a little more than 5 quarts for some reason.

More than 5 quarts

Resurrecting an old thread in hopes that I won't have to start a new one...
You said you sometimes have to add more than 5 quarts? I did my oil change on my 06MT Coupe yesterday, and added exactly 5 quarts (I know it was exact b/c it was a brand new jub of mobile 1) and it isn't even halfway up the dipstick!
I just went in for an OC test earlier in the year, and they may have tampered with my dipstick/oil pan so I'm really interested to hear from anyone who has had to add more than 5 quarts to theirs. This is become quite the mystery...

I think he meant a little more in terms of 1/2 quart when changing the oil and filter

anymore than that is very odd if done at the inital oil change

how far after the oil change did you need to add more?

I buy the larger filters for the FX45 and the 5.25 QT jugs of oil and it fills the dipstick to just short of the full line.

This is normal actually, Your filter you bought has a bypass valve. So once you turn on the car it will fill up with oil. The OEM sized filter can hold up to ~.3 quarts of fluid.

When you turn off you car the oil pressure drops, so the filter's bypass valve holds in the fluid.

The Cross hatched area on the dipstick is only 1 quart. So you need to add a bit more of fluid to bring it up to H. But Yes you have 5 quarts of fluid in there.

If you buy the M45 Filter and add 5.25 quarts of fluid it will get you right at or under the H line.
