Another Avic D3 install

Well this is my first time ever attempting to do any audio install.

It was a pretty exciting and time consuming adventure.

Now lets admire my mess.

Cant see the pics. But, congrats. I had a Z2 in my old car and absolutely loved it. The ability to burn the cds you toss in there on the fly to the hd was pretty sweet. The only thing I didnt like about mine was, in stock form, the navi. Having to pull over, apply parking break, and then toss in wherever you were going was annoying. I did the hack to mine to get around that, but I still think its stupid for it to be like that from the factory.

hmm?

i don't understand...

mine fits flush, with the exception of the gap at the bottom which I corrected with foam.

I also got the steering wheel control to work, and it looks clean.

ohhhh sorrry, I understand what your saying now...

yes you are correct it does not fit perfectly...

what I did to make it fit correctly was to first put the DD in between the brackets but do no screw it in, then put the navi controls on and screw it in, then put the finisher on, and screw the finisher down, then screw the dd on

with these procedures I got it to fit as appeared above without cutting or modifying anything.

I like that a lot.

If i didn't have to park my G35 on a dark street at night i'd go for the dual Nav setup as well to get a more modern radio interface.

hm.. ok well when you went to put it in, was the finisher like 1/4" too long? cause with the stock finisher the navi controls screw into the finisher and they all screw on. the holes were in the way wrong spot here to work though. i cut the old one, and it fit fine, just didnt look great though. so you got urs to fit?

and mustang5l5- dont worry, i had my first DD about a month or 2 before it was stolen. in broad daylight in the middle of a busy lowes parking lot...
