Changed mine today at 40K miles. Didn't look like that, but it sure was black! I tossed an air freshener on top of it. Lets see how long it lasts.

I remember this thread, 06/2009 thought it would have been much older. This is the result of neglect and not using a garage. Very surprised he has any wiring left, it's like chew toys for rats....

Car was actually garaged. Always is when I am at home.
Remnants of rodent(s) were only found later when I changed my battery. Their nest was near/around the battery. I found a bunch of "nesting" material under the battery holder.

Where the hell do you drive?! I didn't change mine until this summer for the first time and I bought my car brand new in 2005 (changed it at 160,000KM) and it didn't look bad at all.
